install

In maiden's REPL (the >> prompt at the bottom of the editor), run:

;install https://github.com/tapecanvas/tts

Or add the splines catalog to maiden and install it from the project manager. Restart norns if the script ships a new engine.

text to speech on norns using flite

  • requires flite and mpv to be installed * disclaimer

controls:

  • text input from keyboard
  • e1 change voice
  • e2 change pitch
  • e3 change speed
  • k2 stop playback
  • k3 play text

todo:

  • increase text line spacing
  • load text from file
  • read through synthetic speech and vocals lines thread
  • flite speed / pitch params
    • could also use mpv flags for this
      • tried mpv, now try flite
  • only show params text on screen if they are adjusted (or dim when inactive?)
  • text cursor
  • movement keys
  • scroll display if text extends below visible area
  • line wrap tweaks
  • loop audio option
archive:
  • make ascii and info blocks functions so I can reuse them easier later
